    Dear LiveJournal,
There is a used condom on our apartment building's staircase. It has been there for about twenty-four hours. It was in the middle of the staircase earlier when I left for work this morning, but has since moved up six steps and off to the side of the stairs. I don't want to know who moved it up or why. Maybe it got stuck to someone's shoe. Maybe someone's curious dog got ahold of it for thirty seconds. But it is still there. And it is gross. And I am not moving it. No way in hell.

I should make a note here that we live in a pretty nice apartment building, in a pretty nice neighborhood. Certainly not the kind of place where people hump in the stairwell.

The hippo at our zoo (the daughter of my now-deceased adopted hippo, may Taweret rest his soul) apparently can use message boards. And so can her friends. lol.

The whole site is pretty clever, but I don't see anything from the elephants. Some of the animals even have their own MySpace pages. It's cracking me up.

    busy bee
This week is back to the grind and it's pure hell. I have to take two math tests (which I suspect I'll not be able to do, and will have to push one of them over to next week), take a music appreciation quiz and write a 3-5 page paper on a concert I attended and pretty much hated, do two weeks of Math Therapy reading and "homework" excercises, and mentally prepare for the next two weeks wherein I will be in the class for my Body Farm trip in the mornings, working in the afternoon, and then leaving to go to U of T OMFG NEXT SUNDAY HOLY CRAP.

How in the world did the time pass so fast? And how can I get it to slow the hell down? Argh!

A charitable organization that is affiliated with my school is raffling off a 2008 Pontiac Solstice next week. 2000 tickets @ $50 will be sold.

    I want a Pontiac Solstice.

    hilarious!
"I think he's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own worldview, his own confused theology," Dobson said.

"... He is dragging biblical understanding through the gutter."

An evangelical - the head of Focus on the Family, in fact - accusing someone else of distorting the Bible to suit their own needs? Hysterical! I LOL'ed.

in which there is some weekend excitement
    So. My weekend.

On Thursday night, Kayla came over to stay with us while my parents are out of town. I made a turkey and way too much food. It was fun. Afterwards, Jimmy took her out running while I went to school for my math therapy. The ladies that are working with me are incredibly kind and understanding. I am impressed. When I got home Jimmy was introducing Kayla to Guitar Hero, which created a monster, as she was up until midnight playing it.

On Friday, I returned home from work to find Kayla playing Guitar Hero. I managed to pry her away from it and we went on a trip to the outlet mall in the afternoon, where I found a nice outfit for work that requires the purchase of new shoes. We returned home for pizza and movies, worked out in the fitness center, and had an altogether quiet evening. Kayla played more Guitar Hero.

Saturday we went out shopping early with my Auntie and ran some errands. While we were out I hit the Bath & Body Works sale and also got a cute new skirt that also requires the purchase of new shoes. We had BBQ chicken for dinner with Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, which is admittedly unusual, but highly recommended. Afterwards, Jimmy went to a birthday party for one of his buddies and Kayla and I went to work out, and then afterwards to the movies see the Incredible Hulk. It was not as bad as I anticipated, but it was no Iron Man.

After the movie we came home around 1 am and made a pizza for a snack. No more than five minutes after we had settled down to eat it than I got a call from my boyfriend. He had been in a minor car accident, and was OK, but his car was not in drivable condition. We immediately set out on our late-night mission to rescue him from 290 and Harlem. We packed the pizza.

About halfway there we got a call from my boyfriend, saying that they helped him move his car off of the highway and into a nearby parking lot, whereupon they startled a young lady and her gentleman friend being intimate in the back seat of a parked car. Needless to say, the responding officer had his hands full. When we arrived on the scene we found a slightly smashed car belonging to my boyfriend, a tow truck, an IDOT assistance vehicle with lights flashing, a cop car with lights flashing, two undercover cop cars, and the offenders' car, which had a bottle of Vanilla Stoli resting on the top of the car and two embarrassed-looking young adults inside of it. Good times.

My boyfriend was OK, with sore thumbs because the airbag deployed, and a banged knee. After the tow truck took his car away, and the officer finished giving him an accident report, we returned him home and gave him pizza on the ride back. Excitement!

Now he's driving a fancy Lincoln rental with leather seats until his car can be repaired. Viva insurance!

    goodbye Mr. Conductor
I heard about George Carlin's death this morning and was sad. However, I could have sworn that when I woke up, my clock radio was talking about film critic Roger Ebert having died. I have heard no word on this - as far as I know he's still alive - and it could have been my sleepy brain recieving false half-awake information. Still, if you have a Dead Pool at your office you might want to look into it.
